my mother's day...

Really started on Saturday when I took the kids to Walmart to get a few groceries. Walmart conveniently places all the flowers right in front of the entry.. so the kids insisted that I needed flowers for Mother's Day. And of course they couldn't agree on a color, so I ended up with a dozen Red Roses from Cole and a dozen Lavender Roses from Kinsey. Cole realized Kenna didn't get me any, so he happily suggested that his flowers be from him and Kenna (that's so Cole). The lavender roses smell absolutely amazing. Next we walked past the bakery and they spotted cakes, "oh mom, you really need a cake for Mother's Day". I let them know I would be fine without, but nope, they insisted. So instead of buying one, I suggested we make cupcakes. Off we went to the baking section. Guess what, they couldn't agree on what kind, Kinsey insisted I needed pink because I am a girl and Cole insisted I need chocolate because it tastes so good. So, we bought both. And we made 2 boxes of cupcakes we only had three eggs, so Cole walked next door and asked if they could spare 3 eggs (we are blessed to have such wonderful neighbors). I don't even like cake, but they are so happy and so proud, so thoughtful!!! We first put together the flower arrangements...cut some fresh lilacs from our yard and some brush to put in the Kinsey's arrangement, we put it all together and found places for them to brighten the days! Then it was on to making cupcakes. The kids have been on a two day sugar high, I swear.

They have been drawing me pictures all week, then hiding them so I don't see them. Well this morning they paced until Kenna woke up so they could give them to me and the gifts that they made down at Chad's parents house (Trina is always amazing about that, ever year she has the kids do a project for me, so sweet of her). Cole and Kinsey painted cute little bird houses for me and I now have a Kenna hand print (I cannot believe they got her to cooperate...but it is so cute, so tiny).

Cole suppose to have hockey practice, but we skipped it, I dropped the girls off with our friends (Kinsey had the choice of going to Hannah's or staying home and Hannah coming here, she of course chose to go to Hannah's) then Cole and I headed out turkey hunting. He was awesome, we didn't have a blind setup where we went, so we just sat next to a tree, but I only had to whisper to him a couple times to be quiet and stop fidgeting. LOL He's always full of questions. I let him bring a camera with too, so he was very excited to document the experience. I was really hoping he'd be snapping a picture of me with a turkey, but no such luck, 4 hens and a deer. None the less, it was wonderful just being out there with him. Hopefully some day Kinsey and then Kenna will want to do the same, if not, we'll have to find something else to do because it's so nice to just get away from it all, peace and quiet and enjoy their company. I'll post pictures tomorrow from the big hunt, LOL, still on the camera and having had time to get them off the card yet.

Chad and I went out turkey hunting on some friends property just north of our house last week and we literally walked right up on this dandy set of horns. This buck is going to be really nice this season. And he's a Dunn County buck, not a Buffalo County buck (off our land) for those of you that know what I'm talking about. hehehe The funny thing was, Chad and I were just talking about how neither of us have ever found a set of sheds, never really looked either, well really looked, then we stumble across these. The deer must of layed down and plop, they fell off. I find that so funny. LOL
